Dealing with Credit Card Debt
If you are dealing with large credit card debt, you may feel at times like the situation is hopeless. It does not have to be this way.
There are ways to dig out of credit card debt and regain some financial stability. It will take some work and plenty of self-discipline.
Of course, the easiest way to stay out of credit card debt is by not getting in credit card debt in the first place. This means charging only what you can afford to pay, in full, with the bill comes in each month.
You can also check with your credit card company about trying to get a manageable credit card deal. Some credit card companies may be lowering interest rates and reducing monthly payments. Check with your credit card company to see if you can get an interest rate reduction.
There are also ways to settle debts.
The first thing to do is to make a list. Include all credits and all outstanding balances for those cards. Also check out the interest rates and minimum payments. List the card with the highest interest rate at the top and the lowest interest rate at the bottom. Total all the minimum payments. The total monthly minimum payment should be your minimum payment, but study your overall budget and see if you can pay a little more than just the monthly minimum. Apply the additional money to the credit card with the highest interest rate.
Credit card debt should not lead to bankruptcy, but you can always contact an attorney if you are concerned about bankruptcy.
